BATS operate an membership individual transport scheme to cater for people with severe mobility problems that prevent them from using public transport. The individual transport service can be booked to cover journeys such as hospital transport, cross-borough trips and out-of-borough shopping journeys, longer distances, airport runs and local holiday transport.
BOOKINGS
Enquiries and bookings can be made through the BATS office between 07:00am and 16:30pm Monday to Friday.
All bookings are treated on a first come first served basis; we make no guarantee of availability. A minimum of 24 hours notice must be given if you wish to cancel your booking.
A £12 cancellation fee may apply if sufficient notice is not given.
You must become a member of BATS to use the service; Individual membership costs £20.80 annually and is available to but not limited to disabled people, those with severe mobility problems and blind or partially sighted persons, learning difficulties, and hearing difficulties. Acceptance of membership is at the discretion of the BATS trustee board.
Journeys within the borough: Between the hours of 10:00am and 14:00pm = £15.60 hire charge applies per journey which includes 5 miles, mileage is charged at £1.14 per mile there-after. Before 10:00am and after 14:00pm there will be a driver hire charge of £12 added. If the journey takes longer than 1 hour or goes outside the borough, there will be an additional charge of £12 per hour for the driver hire. Unless a volunteer driver can be sourced. Driver charge for individuals are only applied out of normal working hours (before 9, after 4.00 and weekends).
